Outage continues

The Fort Substation outage from the 12 October fire continues to affect Hillbrow and other inner-city areas. City Power has completed jointing four additional cables and is replacing the remaining three in the tunnels before testing; staged restoration is planned, with full restoration estimated for 19 October 2026, subject to progress and successful testing. Cumberland and nearby Metro City are also reported without electricity. Burton Court, two flats near Banket, the Cumberland area including the cold drink depot and Klein Street side, and Pietersen Street in Hillbrow are reported without electricity. Some buildings on Pietersen and Edith Cavell streets in Hillbrow remain without power.
