About these figures
Notes on the IEC's figures for this page
special votes 44 121 · All 1 786 voting districts in · the IEC marks the results complete
In local elections the IEC adds votes across the ward, PR and district ballots, so we show valid votes per ballot instead of one "votes cast" total.
Turnout is calculated as PR ballots cast ÷ registered voters, from the IEC's results for the 1 785 of its 1 786 voting districts (the IEC returned no result for the other) here (807 551 of 1 902 220). The IEC publishes 42.6%.
The change beside the headline is the difference between the leading party's share here and its share in the 2016 election for the same province, both from the IEC's counts, with no votes re-allocated between boundaries.
Note: IEC TotalValidVotes 2370988 differs from the sum of party rows 2372227 by 1239; we show per-ballot sums of party rows and do not publish the cross-ballot total.
Note: Bushbuckridge: IEC TotalValidVotes 305403 differs from the sum of party rows 306642 by 1239; we show per-ballot sums of party rows and do not publish the cross-ballot total.
Percentages are calculated from the IEC's vote counts. Official results: results.elections.org.za.
Map boundaries: Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) and the IEC.
