*⚠️ URGENT WATER SHUTDOWN – NEWLANDS COMMUNITY*

Dear Newlands Residents,
Please take note of a planned *24-hour shutdown* of the Northern Aquaduct for essential maintenance notice from EThekwini Municipality.
*Shutdown details:*
*Start:* 02:00 on *Thursday, 2 July 2026*
*End:* 02:00 on *Friday, 3 July 2026*
*Duration: 24 hours*
*Work to be done:* Repairing leaks, replacing air valves, pipework repairs, and pressure testing before supply is restored.
*Newlands Reservoirs affected:*
- *Newlands 1:*
- *Newlands 2:*
- *Newlands 3:*
- *Newlands 4:*
*IMPORTANT – NEWLANDS RESERVOIR 1 RESIDENTS*
Reservoir 1 is already at critical levels. *If you are supplied by Newlands Reservoir 1, you must store water supply ahead of the nightly shut, or as soon as possible.* Once the shutdown starts at 02:00 on 2 July, there will be no supply for the full 24 hours.
*All Newlands residents are urged to:*
1. Store enough water by *Wednesday night, 1 July* for drinking, cooking, flushing, and emergencies
2. Use water sparingly once supply returns, as reservoirs will take time to refill
Water supply will be restored progressively after 02:00 on 3 July once maintenance is complete and reservoirs refill.
